 Stern tube is a tube that is stern ship which serves to connect the propeller shaft with the main engine, and to prevent sea water into the boat. Issues to be discussed in this essay is about the damage that occurred in the stern tube MT. Anggraini Excellent when researchers conducted marine practice. 
 Result of research on factor that could cause leakage at the stern tube is excessive vibration in the propeller shaft, raising the temperature lubricant on the tube stern tube and material fatigue, which is caused because no schedule routine maintenance and repair. Impact cause by the problem that can interfere with the operation of the vessel which is caused by a leak in the stern tube, method used by the research is fishbone is often also the diagram is called a causal or cause effect diagram, and Fault tree analysis method, the purpose of this method is to identify the cause that my arise from a specific effect then separating the root caused to illustrate and describe the object under study. 
 Given the importance of stern tube on the boat, then the effort will be undertaken to prevent damage to the stern tube is noticed rounds current critical if the motion so that not too long ago vibration, always, pay attention oil grease on the tank, replace the spare part when it exceeds the working hours.
