Tackling the high temperature of coal requires good and proper
handling. High load temperatures should be avoided by handling the load while
on board, but high-load temperatures often occur during loading and unloading
processes. Based on that the authors formulate the problem of what are the factors
causing the high temperature of coal during the loading process, the impact of the
high temperature of coal, and how to overcome the high temperature of coal.
In writing this essay, the authors describe the theory of tackling the high
temperature of burning coal used in the manufacture of research reports and as a
foundation for solving problems that exist in the research process. The method
used is descriptive method and qualitative method. By doing observations,
interviews and literature. The technique of data analysis using fishbone analysis
and ultrasound method (Urgency, Seriousness, Growth).
Based on the results of research conducted during the practice of sailing
practice in MV. Glovis Desire regarding the high temperature of coal found
problems such as the lack of crew knowledge on how to cope with high
temperature loads, bad coal characteristics and characteristics, high temperature or
hot environments, the amount of load in the loading space and loading which is
less effective. Due to the above problems during coal loading process is delayed.
From the results of the above analysis it can be concluded that the
implementation of the loading process aboard the MV. Glovis Desire still
encounters problems, especially during loading, due to the unfavorable
characteristics and characteristics of coal, resulting in high coal loading
temperatures. As well as the lack of knowledge of the ship's crew on how to cope
with the high temperatures of coal loads. The author's suggestion is that the
company should also play a role and pay more attention to the infrastructure
facilities in loading and unloading process, in this case the means of infrastructure
to prevent the high temperature of coal load, always check periodically during
coal loading process by using gas detector tool, due to the characteristics and
characteristics of coal that is loaded which is not good, and should be held
socialization or safety meeting before or after so that the crew of the ship has a
knowledge that proper in the process of tackling high temperature coal at the time
of loading.
