Resam plants are widely found in the province of Bangka Belitung so that their availability is abundant to be made into composite fillers. Composite is a combination of two or more materials that have different properties from one another. Composite materials have properties that are strong, corrosive resistant, lightweight, and inexpensive and can be applied as an alternative sound dampening material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of volume fraction and length of NaOH immersion on the sound absorption coefficient value and to determine that resam fibre composite with polyester matrik can be used as an alternative sound absorbing material. Making specimens using hand lay-up method and research design using full factorial method. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the largest sound absorption coefficient value was found in specimen number 6 with a volume fraction of 15%: 85% and the immersion time of NaOH solution for 90 minutes amounting to (? = 0.218). While the lowest sound absorption coefficient value is found in specimen no 7 with a volume fraction of 5%: 95% and the length of immersion in NaOH solution for 60 minutes amounting to (? = 0.185). So that this composite material can be used as an alternative sound absorbing material because it meets the ISO 11654 standard with a minimum value of (? = 0.15). This composite material is included in the classification of class E soundproofing materials. Keywords: resam, composite, silencer, hand lay-up, full factorial.} }
