Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui kesulitan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas I SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, (2) mengetahui hambatan belajar membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas I SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, (3) untuk mengetahui solusi yang diberikan guru terhadap kesulitan membaca permulaan yang dialami siswa kelas I SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Informan pada penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, guru kelas I SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul dan siswa kelas I SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul dengan jumlah 5 anak. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model Miles and Hubberman. Hasil penelitian ini adalah ditemukan kesulitan membaca permulaan yang dialami siswa kelas I SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul antara lain, (1) belum bisa mengeja kata, (2) belum bisa membaca susunan kata, (3) belum bisa membaca huruf diftong dan digraph, (4) sering mengulang kata, (5) kesalahan parafrase dan (6) belum mengetahui makna kata. Sedangkan hambatan yang dialami sehingga membuat siswa mengalami kesulitan membaca yaitu, (1) kurangnya peran orang tua saat mendampingi siswa belajar membaca, (2) minat membaca siswa masih rendah, (3) tingkat kecerdasan siswa yang berbeda-beda. Solusi yang diberikan oleh guru untuk mengatasi hal tersebut adalah, (1) memberikan perhatian yang lebih terhadap siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam membaca permulaan, (2) menambah jam baca siswa, (3) membaca bersama Kata Kunci: Hambatan Membaca, Kesulitan Membaca, Membaca Permulaan ABSTRACT Roky Prima Utama. An Analysis of Obstacle Study Learning to Beginner Reading in First Grade Students of SDN 1 MendoloKidul. Thesis: Pacitan: STKIP PGRI Pacitan, 2022. This study aimed to (1) find out the difficulties of early reading in the first-grade students of SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, (2) find out the barriers to learn reading early in the first-grade students of SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, and (3) to find out the solutions that given by the teacher to the difficulties of early reading to first-grade students at SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul.  This research is qualitative research that used a descriptive approach. The subject in this study were the principal of SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, teachers of first grade at SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, and students first grade at SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul with a total of 5 children. Data collection techniques that used were observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model. The results of this study found that there were difficulties in reading by the first graders of SDN 1 Mendolo Kidul, namely: (1) could not spell words, (2) could not read word order, (3) could not read diphthongs and digraphs, (4) often repeats words, (5) paraphrases errors and (6) does not know the meaning of the word. While the obstacles experienced that make students have difficulty reading were: (1) The lack of parental roles when assisting students in learning to read, (2) Students' reading interest is still low, and (3) The level of intelligence of students is different. The solutions that given by teacher to this problem were: (1) Giving more attention to students who have difficulty in learning reading, (2) Increasing students' reading hours, and (3) Reading together.
