Then, described manic-depressive disorder and the type which can be seen from Cheney's character based on the characteristics shown in the story. This research approach is a psychological approach and focused on the behavioral perspective. The data of this study are in the form of narrative and dialogues especially in the form of a sentence. The data source of this research is Manic: A Memoir an autobiography ebook with publisher Harper Collins in 2008, which is downloaded via the internet. The theory uses in this study is the manic-depressive theory by Carson, Butcher, and Mineka ("Abnormal Psychology and Abnormal Life" 2000: 220-221). The results of this analysis showed that Cheney has some characteristics of manic-depressive disorder such as difficulties in communication with people, on the other hand, she feels her body mute and stiff, excessive sweating, and also she feels dizzy in her head. She also loses her hair, and also her face is pale but she covered by used makeup every day. Besides, she also experiences with catatonic characteristic when she is manic-depressive, she becomes raging to people when she cannot solve the disease. Fainted also always experienced by Cheney when she is manic-depressive. However, in the story, even though she is sick but she still hard-working, not only that, she tries to keep her look to be good looking, her aims to hide her disease from people and also she does not want to be distinguished with ?normal? people.} }
