		abstract={In this thesis, the writer analyzes about a novel The Known World written by Edward P. Jones?s The Known World is a novel that described racism as one of the social conflicts about slavery in America?s 19th century. The main purpose of this research are to describe the forms of racism experienced by the African American Slave as portrayed in Edward P. Jones?s The Known World.

To overcome the problem structurally, the writer arranged the theoretical framework by discussing about theory and approach. The theories that the writer applied are the concept of racism, race relation; the form of rejection. Meanwhile the approach, the writer emphasized on one approach that is Sociological Literature. Moreover, this analysis applied descriptive qualitative method to depict clearly about the problem by using the words.

The result of this analysis shows about the form of racism against African American Slave in The Known World. The writer finds two form of racism, there are discrimination and violence. Discrimination is divided into three parts, namely education discrimination, economic discrimination and segregation. Then, violence experienced was physical violence.}
