The main purpose of this research is to reveal author?s view toward Eastern?s society as portrayed in Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. The focuses of this study are analyzing author?s view toward Eastern?s society, it is about Orientalism view. This novel tells about women named Liz who wants to pursue her pleasure, to pursue the devotion of her life and to pursue balancing between pleasure spiritual and love in two Asian countries: are India and Indonesia (Bali). The writer uses Post-colonialism approach and the Orientalism by Said (1978) as the theory. In this research, the writer applies descriptive qualitative method in which tries to explain about the western?s orientalism view by seeing from religion and culture views from each Asian countries. The writer also conducted library research in the context of data collecting process. The data came from dialogues and narrations about main character?s view about orientalism in the novel Eat Pray Love. Based on the findings, author?s view toward Eastern?s society were about negative and positive view toward two Asian countries; India and Indonesia, supporting the fact that as the negative view she thought that Eastern?s countries kept their cultures too knit. Meanwhile, in the positive view Eastern people kept the cultures as something sacred. Based on the research conducted it can be concluded that Eastern?s countries always keep their culture because they do not want to lose their heritage, and this is the way for Eastern countries socialize with society.} }
