@thesis{thesis, author={KUSUMA WHISNU MAHARAJA}, title ={THEMATIC PROGRESSION OF THE INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS & EDITORS (IRE) JOURNALISM AWARDEE SEEN IN “THE PRICE KIDS PAY”}, year={2023}, url={http://repository.teknokrat.ac.id/5380/}, abstract={The report series ?The Price Kids Pay: Years After Being Ticketed at School for a Theft She Said Never Happened, Former Students Prevails in Court? is based on the writing of the awardee of IRE Awards, in which hypothetically can inspire readers to produce a clear ideas flow through its text. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the types of Themes and thematic progression from the major clauses in the text. By using a qualitative research by Creswell & Creswell (2017), the analysis will be based on major clauses in the texs. Moreover, the analysis will use a library research by Mann (1993). The analysis will implement the theory of types of Themes by Halliday and Matthiessen (2014) which also include the multiple Themes: topical unmarked and marked Theme, interpersonal Theme (IT), Textual Theme (TT), and the combination in between. In addition, the theory of thematic progression will be based on Bloor and Bloor (2013) that presents with four patterns, which is constant Theme pattern (CTP), linear Theme pattern (LTP), split Theme pattern (STP), and derived Theme pattern (DTP). As a result, the research has found that there are 117 clauses in total, 51 of them are realized as topical unmarked Theme which is the most dominant Theme. The least dominant Theme is interpersonal Theme that has 4 clauses. In addition to the pattern, the most dominant pattern is linear Theme pattern 39 clauses, while derived Theme pattern is the least dominant pattern for 18 clauses. Therefore, the report series has more narrative element.} }
