To translate text requires special expertise. The function of the translator is to move film content from the source language to the target language, so the audience can receive messages from a film. This study aims to analyze the types of translation procedure used, the dominant type used in ?Hachi: A Dog?s Tale? movie and how the translator applied to translate the text from Source Language (SL) to Target Language (TL). The source of data was taken from the script of ?Hachi: A Dog?s Tale? movie. The research design is descriptive analysis technique. The analysis is based on the eight translation procedures by Sayogie (2009) theory, they are Word-by-word, Literal Translation, Faihful Translation, Semantic Translation, Adaption, Free Translation, Idiomatic Translation, Communicative Translation. The writer used word by word translation method that dominated used by the translator. To obtain the data, the writer did some steps that help the writer to analyze the data, there are watching, reading, understanding, classifying, identifying, and analyzing the object of the research. The result shows that there are one hundred forty nine (149) data from the subtitle Indonesian conversation in the movie that used word-by-word translation procedure.} }
