Single dose of STZ was intraperitoneally given 45 mg/kgBW. A total of twenty male rats were used in this study. Twenty male rats were used in this study. Those rats were divided into five groups: negative control group (K-) was not induced by streptozotocin and treated with 1% Tween 80; a positive control group (K+) induced by streptozotocin and treated with 1% Tween 80; treatment 1 (P1) induced by streptozotocin and gave cinnamon essential oil 100 mg/kgBW; treatment 2 (P2) induced by streptozotocin and gave cinnamon essential oil 200 mg/kgBW; treatment 3 (P3) induced by streptozotocin and gave cinnamon essential oil 400 mg/kgBW. The treatment was given daily for 14 days. Cinnamon essential oil is very potential to reduce degeneration of tubular cells, necrosis tubular, Glomerular necrosis and glomerulosclerosis. P3 treatment (400 mg/kgBW) of kidney shown minimal result. The conclusion is cinnamon essential oil can reduce the level of kidney cell damage, so that it can be developed as an antidiabetic herbal medicine.} }
