Social media not only helps build relationships or just entertainment, but can backfire on users who do not have self-awareness. Self awareness is an individual's ability to know and understand oneself and the surrounding environment thoroughly related to thoughts, feelings and behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of social media use and self awareness in adolescents. This research has a sample of 65 adolescents obtained using purposive random sampling technique. The independent variable in this study is the intensity of social media use and the dependent variable in this study is self awareness. Data analysis with Pearson Product Moment Correlation test. Based on the results of this study, there is a significant negative relationship between the intensity of social media use and self awareness in adolescents. The results of the correlation coefficient rxy = -0.607 with a significant level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) this means that low self awareness behavior is related to the high intensity of social media use in adolescents.
