Rizkia Melinda Wontami (2012) The Analysis of Non-observance Maxim in the New Moon Novel by Stephenie Meyer.  
This skripsi is a pragmatic study that aims at investigating non-observance maxim of some utterances in the one of literary works that is a novel. This study analyze the non-observance maxim ‘breaking maxim’ in the second series of Twilight novel by Stephenie Meyer by implementing or applying qualitative method. The data are the utterances which utters by actor and actress in the novel that have the categories of non-observance maxim, and the source of the data is New Moon novel by Stephenie Meyer. The data was collect through some steps; they are reading, identification, and taking notes. Moreover, the data analyze by using Grice’s theory of classification of breaking maxim in conversation. The analysis shows that there are twenty nine utterances are including in breaking maxim. Twenty one utterances include in category of flouting maxim, seven utterances in clash maxim, and one utterance in violating maxim, whereas the category of opting out is not exist in the novel. This study concludes that there are three kinds of breaking maxim appeared in new moon novel, consequently not all of various kind of breaking maxim showed in this literary work.
