In this study, the authors used ketapang leaf extract as an anti-acne drug. Objectives: To determine the effect of ketapang leaves (Terminalia catappa L) on Propionibacterium acnes bacteria and to determine what concentration of inhibitory power is the strongest in inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnesantara bacteria from ketapang leaf extract. Research method: This research design is a laboratory experimental study using a randomized control group design with a prospective period to determine the inhibitory power of the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes with concentrations of 35%, 65% and 95%.) with a positive control of clindamycin and a negative control of distilled water. Results: Inhibition zone diameters at concentrations of 35% (13.67mm) and 65% (20.67mm) were in different inhibition categories based on Davis and Stout (1971), which were moderate and strong. This is because the number of active compounds that diffuse out of the disc paper at a concentration of 65% is more than at a concentration of 35%. The inhibition zone at a concentration of 95% showed an average diameter where the number of active compounds bound to the disc paper at a concentration of 95% was very large so that the diffusion rate of compounds that had antibacterial activity of ketapang leaf extract was higher. Conclusion: The strongest concentration of inhibitory activity in inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria was ketapang leaf extract with a concentration of 95% Keywords: Ketapang leaves, bacteria propionibacterium acnes} }
