	The purpose of this study is to describe the character values contained in the ta'lim muta'allim book and the concept of national character education, to revise the character values contained in the ta'lim muta'allim book into the concept of national character education. Furthermore, the general aim of this research is to harmonize new strategies in fostering the character of the nation's children, and to be able to combine theoretical approaches from various aspects. And can be used as a reference as the development of knowledge, especially in the world of Islamic education in the future. By using a qualitative descriptive method with the type of research Library Research (library study) the author examines the concepts of character education proposed by al-Zarnuji in the world of education and the national character education strengthening system. Sources of data obtained from several scientific works of al-Zarnuji and Strengthening character education contained in Presidential Decree no. 87 of 2017 as primary data and supported by other secondary data.
	Based on the results of the study, 18 values of character formation were identified which were the results of an empirical study of the Curriculum Center sourced from Religion, Pancasila, Culture and national education goals and found the values of character education in the book Ta'lim Muta'allim by Imam Al-Zarnuji as many as 16 values in accordance with National character education. And has a conclusion that the educational values contained in the book of Ta'lim Muta'allim by Imam Al-Zarnuji are very relevant to the values of national character education, after reviewing Law No. 20 of 2003 which contains the National Education System and Regulations. President No. 87 of 2017 concerning strengthening character education (PPK).
