This research delves into students' perceptions of effective foreign language teachers in Indonesian high schools, focusing on five key aspects: delivery, knowledge, rapport, organization, and fairness. Through a qualitative approach involving interviews and surveys, the study aims to understand the hierarchy of these aspects in the eyes of students. Results reveal a clear ranking of student preferences, with delivery emerging as the highest-ranked aspect, followed by knowledge, rapport, organization, and fairness. The findings offer valuable insights into the elements that students prioritize in effective language instruction, providing guidance for educators and contributing to the ongoing discourse on enhancing foreign language teaching practices in Indonesian high schools. The problem of this research is how do students perceive an effective foreign language teacher in Indonesian high school at eleventh grade of IPS SMAN 1 Kencong the 2022/2023 academic year and the purpose of the research is to explain students? perceptions of effective foreign language teachers in Indonesian high schools. The kind of the research is a descriptive research and design of the research in the case is descriptive quantitative research. Population of the research is eleventh grade of IPS SMAN 1 Kencong and the sampel is 60 student. The result showed that student perception of effective english teacher is that Delivery gained highest mean score among others, with the mean score is 3,49. The second ranking is gained by Knowledge indicator with mean score is 3,16. Rapport is third on the list with the mean score is 2,61. Organization or Preparation is fourth on the list, with mean score 2,44. Fairness, with the same mean score to Organization, that is 2,44. Thus, it can be concluded that students' perceptions of the effectiveness of English teachers play an important role in their classes, especially in class elevent IPS at SMAN 1 Kencong for the academic year 2022/2023.} }
