Financial statements can be used as a window to see the conditions and results of the company's work in a certain period. In perspective of ownership, there are two group of bank, domestic bank and foreign bank.. These two groups have proper competition in order to show good performance in public. Japanese bank is listed as the most aggressive and extensive with the largest number of banks operating in Indonesia compared to other countries. This study aims to analyze the financial performance of domestic banks and Japanese banks for the period 2015-2019 using financial ratios, namely Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Return on Assets (ROA), Non Performing Loans (NPL) and Operating Expense to Operating Income (OEOI). The population of this research is domestic banks and Japanese banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015-2019. The samples in this study were five (5) domestic banks and five (5) Japanese banks. This study uses secondary data collection in the form of Financial Statements. The data analysis technique used in this study was Mannn Whitney test and Two Samples Kolmogorov Smirnov Test. The result showed : (1) There is no significant different of Capital Adequacy between domestic and Japanese bank. While (2) There is a significant different of Return on Assets (ROA) of domestic and Japanese bank, (3) There is a significant different of Non-Performing Loan (NPL ) of domestic and Japanese bank, (4) There is a significant different of Operating expenses to Operating Income (OEOI) between domestic and Japanese bank. The implication of this research is that the banking management of both domestic banks and Japanese banks to support and control changes in the value of CAR, ROA, NPL, and OEOI in accordance with Bank Indonesia regulations with the aim of producing better banking system and for reference for Bank Indonesia in determine banking policies.} }
