One country that has a strong vision for carrying out the agricultural transition is Ethiopia. The Ethiopian government established a vision for transitioning agricultural in Ethiopia listed in the Growth and Transformation Plan II (GTP II) 2015-2020. GTP II Ethiopia is closely related to UNIDO's Program for Country Partnership (PCP). This study aims to explain the role of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the agricultural transition in Ethiopia. There are two approaches used in this research, namely; (a) the role concept that refers to social interactions carried out by international actors to other actors, and; (b) Theory of the Role of International Organizations related to attitudes or actions taken by international organizations in dealing with a particular issue. The results of this study show that UNIDO has a crucial role in the agricultural transition in Ethiopia. UNIDO's role is categorized into three forms, namely as actors, fora, and resources. As an actor, UNIDO plays the role in coordinating program, providing technical expertise, and supporting the government in mobilizing investment. As a fora, UNIDO forms various forums to bring together the stakeholders and as a resource, UNIDO plays a role as a political tool and policy advisory.
