Impeded drainage conditions cause denitrifying process. Nitrous oxide (N2O) generated during denitrifying was cause consequences to the environment and agriculture, loss of nitrogen in the soil, global warming and also damage the ozone layer. This research was conducted to study about the population of denitrifying bacteria in the rhizosphere of palm oil on various ages which were planted at tidal land and its relationship with pH, C organic and total N. The research was conducted on palm oil agroecosystem land of private company that is located in the Banyuasin regency administrative area of South Sumatera form August until November 2015. The soil samples were taken by survey method on the land which was planted by palm oil. Denitrifying bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of palm oil, palm oil disc, outside the disc and area which was not planted by palm oil. Isolation of denitrifying bacteria was performed using denitrifying agar as the medium, at a temperature of 27oC and colony counting was done by counting plate method. The relationship between the metanotrof bacterial population with soil chemical properties were analyzed with regression and correlation. The population calculation of denitrifying bacteria using colony counter. Measured variable were the population of denitrifying bacteria in the laboratory, soil pH, C organic and total N. In addition, secondary data collected in the field such as the history of fertilization, land use and age of the plant. The population of denitrifying bacteria was analyzed by factorial completely randomized design on the level of 0.5% and was further analyzed by using HSD 0.5%. The relationship between the population of denitrifying bacteria with pH, C organic and total N were analyzed by correlation regression. The calculations result showed that in the location of the research found various denitrifying bacteria where the highest population was 8,30 log spk-1 which was in the palm oil canopy out zone at the age of 8 years, while the lowest population of denitrifying bacteria was 7.22 log spk-1 which was contained in uncultivated by palm oil zone at age of 3 years. Based on the results of regression and correlation, the population of denitrifying bacteria unreal correlated with soil pH, C organic and total N.} }
