		abstract={This research is entitled of “The Society Participation in Peatland Fires Prevention Occurred in Desa Muara Dua Kecamatan Pemulutan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Sumatera Selatan”. The issue raised is about the society participation in peatland fires prevention in Desa Muaradua Kecamatan Pemulutan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Sumatera Selatan. This research applies qualitative research method and using descriptive designs. As for the objective of this research is to obtain answers to the questions from the problem statement, that is describing the community and government agencies of Desa Muara Dua in peatland fires prevention, while looking at the factors that hinder the peatland fires prevention. The data analysis technique in this research is through data collection, such as: participation observation and depth interview to the society who are domiciled around the sub-district of Kecamatan Pemulutan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Sumatera Selatan. Based on the research results and discussion chapter which have been previously described regarding to the participation of society in peatland fires prevention that occurred in Desa Muara Dua Kecamatan Pemulutan Kabupaten Pemulutan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Sumatera Selatan, so that, it can be concluded that the participation of society in peatland fires prevention is performed through several activities, such as: build a fire trench, establish an operational procedure regarding to the prevention and control of peatland fires, and the third one is creating the community forest.}
