(2) What is the ability level of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupangin complete and fillingthe missing words when listening to the storytelling? The main objectives of this study were the following: (1) To find out the ability of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in complementing and fill the missing words when listening to the storytelling, (2) To find out the ability level of the tenthgrade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in complementing and filling the missing words when listening to the storytelling. Descriptive method was applied to describe the students’ ability level in listening. The subject of the study was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in the school year 2017/2018. The number of the students was 34 students. In collecting data, the writer gave two stories. The stories are The Ugly Duckling and Snow White. The result of the test shows that the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang were able to complete and fill the missing words when listening to the story; and their level of ability is “Very Good” (8.72). Besides, it can be seen that there was 1 student (4%) at excellent level, 22 students (64%) at very good level, 11 students (32%) at good level. There were no students in below fairly good, average level, poor level, very poor level, bad level and also very bad level. Based on the result above, the writer could suggest the following things (1) The English teachers should be creative in teaching listening and they must balance all skills that they teach, not only paying attention to the reading skill but also to listening, speaking, and writing (based on the writer’s observation).(2) The English teacher should teach vocabulary like homonyms, because it’s the difficult of listening dealing with sound of words/vocabularies. (3) The students, should increase their listening ability by listening to story, conversation, broadcastings so they can learn more words/vocabularies. (4) Other Researchers in doing the same study, can use different title of the story that can arouse interest of the students and they can use different types of listening.} }
