The purpose of this study was to describe the factors that make students at the University of Pasir Pengaraian's Mechanical Engineering program anxious when they speak English in the second semester. The sample in this study consisted of 22 students in the second semester of the mechanical engineering study program at University of Pasir Pengaraian. This study used descriptive qualitative. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire used in this study adopted the final version of the FCLAS (Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale) from Horwitz (1986). The data were analyzed using a liker scale to determine the factors that cause students' anxiety in speaking English in the second semester of the mechanical engineering study program at Pasir Pengaraian University. The results of this study show that the factors that cause student anxiety in speaking English are internal factors and external factors. As has been calculated manually data with a range for scoring from 20 to 100 points. The total respondents in the questionnaire were 22 students. It shows the mean score of students' anxiety levels, where the percentage of the two factors, namely internal factors, is 51% and external factors are 49% of the highest score of 100% points and total questions are 33 numbers. The most correspondents are in middle anxious classification with a median total of 3 points in both factors.} }
