Abstract :
Simeulue is one of the islands located in the western of Aceh. It lies about 150 Km off the western coast of Sumatera. Simeulue had the population of 84.933 at the 2014 (estimate) within the area of 2051.48 km2. It divided into 8 subdistricts and 138 villages with the largest population in Eastern Simeulue. The electricity system in Simeulue Island is currently using Diesel Fired Power Plant with a peak load between 6000-7000 KW in the evening and 3000 - 3500 KW in the day. It condition requires the presence of more efficient power plants to reduce the cost of production. Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant is one of the renewable energy power-station which is growing rapidly in present time. It implementation in the world with large scale occurred in the past decade makes the economics of Solar Power Plant is becoming increasingly competitive. These conditions rise new opportunities for the national electricity sphere because of Solar Power Plant technology can be used to fulfill the electricity needs of Indonesia, especially in the locations where the logistics factors and production cost are the main obstacles. Solar Power Plant is expected to be one of the backbones of the national electricity system in generating reliably and economically electrical energy. Solar Power Plant with an initial capacity of 500 kilowatts will be built in Simeulue in order to sustain the electrical system. On Grid Solar Power-Station will be operated during the day with the aim to reduce the consumption of oil in Simeulue electricity system.
