Abstract :
Generator is an electrical power resource in the electrical power system converting mechanical power (motion) to electrical power (voltage current). The electrical power system has grown so that many numbers of generators can operate in parallel, in an interconnected system depending on the generator machines of PLTU, PLTA, PLTGU, PLTP, etc. The generator energized by steam and gas turbine needs to be equipped with reverse power relay to avoid steam or gas turbine damage. This thesis will discuss the usage of reverse power relay to prevent generator operating as motor in PLTU and PLTG units, the potential risks when reverse power happens, and its relay setting by comparing minimum motoring current and pick up relay current.
