Abstract :
Arrester is an apparatus that can be used to protect the system from voltage surges from lightning strikes. Installation of arresters are not always necessary on each component in the system and can be installed on some parts of the system alone. The parts of the system that must be protected selected taking into account the reliability, too much would be detrimental and too little will cause the electrical system that is not efficient. One part of the electrical system to be protected is the transmission network of the electric train. In this study the authors will analyze install arresters on transmission networks Light rail PT. KAI Commuter Jabodetabek transmission lines Tanah Abang station - Sudirman. The main objective of this study was to determine the distance of the placement and installation of the corresponding arrester protection needs. The data used in this study came from field survey data per year by PT. KAI DAOP 1 Jakarta.
