Abstract :
The idea to utilize ijuk fibers as additive component on concrete mixture arises from the abundance of supply from natural production in Indonesia; therefore it is able to be obtained easily and in low cost. Further study to understand the effect of ijuk fiber in various concentrations on the compressive and tensile strength of concrete mixture is performed. The concrete test sample has 15 x 30 cm dimension and fabricated in compliance with SNI 03?2847-2013 with FAS value 0.47, slump 80-130 mm, and four different proportions which are: normal concrete mixture and concrete mixture with ijuk fibers in 5%, 10%, and 15% concentration. The parameters being observed are slump test and concrete strength. Sample compressive strength is measured on day 7, 14, and 28. Ijuk fibers utilization as additive component on concrete mixture is proven to increase its tensile and compressive strength. The highest value of compressive strength is found on the 10% ijuk fibers concentration which reaches 26.42 MPa, while the compressive strength of ordinary concrete only reaches 25.58 MPa. For tensile strength parameter, the highest value is obtained also on the 10% ijuk fibers concentration, which reaches 2.363 MPa, while the ordinary concrete reaches only 1.863 MPa.
