Abstract :
The Transmission system has a very important role in the process of power distribution. Therefore, protection on a transmission line must be considered seriously in planning. Protection system on a high voltage transmission usually use distance relays and over current relays. Distance relay serves as a main protection and over current relay serves as backup protection. Distance relay used as safety on a transmission line because of its ability to clear faults faster and relatively easy setting. Distance relays measure currents and voltages on a certain point and compare it with it?s setting to determine wether the relay shall work or not. Over current relays detect interference with measuring the amount of current flowing through itself. The amount being the limits on whether the system is disordered or not. Therefore it is necessary to consider the coordination between the relays to provide reliable electricity system.
