Abstract :
Current carrying capacity of underground cable is set by the manufacturer at operational temperature 300C. When the cable is energized, the operational temperature depends on the ambient temperature where the cable is being laid and also depends on the losses of that cable. Cable losses increase the ambient temperature and cable temperature. Eventually those will influence the cable?s operational temperature . This paper will examine current carrying capacity of underground cable at operational temperature.
