Abstract :
Petroleum obtained from oil wells that are widespread in the oil field, which in turn lead to an oil refinery. In carrying out pumping the oil out of the ground in oilfields raised two major issues namely, the depth wells deepened because of the oil in the ground are increasingly depleted and the oil obtained is mixed with water and ground so that different thickness in each well. To be able to pump the oil out of the well with these obstacles then used a pump that was replaced by an electric motor and buried in wells in which can reach 5000 feet. It required a power cord to deliver power that is resistant to sludge and do not cause electrical sparks supplied through a transformer located on the surface of the well. Tap transformer is set in accordance with the depth of the well. The motor pump speed is regulated through the VSD (Variable Speed Drive) in accordance with the fluid viscosity oil. Besides, pumping is also done in stages. In this paper will compare the advantages and disadvantages of using a motor pump that uses the VSD and without VSD.
