Abstract :
The soil properties of clay are very sensitive to changes in water content resulting in easy changes of volume and shrinkage. The occurrence of soil consolidation when subjected to above loading, the pore water pressure will rise so that the pore water out causing the decrease in soil volume, therefore there will be a significant decrease in soil that will affect the reduction of soil bearing capacity to withstand the load on it. On clay soil if received load above it will experience a high decrease. In a long time, this can cause damage to the building. To improve the clay properties in the field of engineering is done by means of stability. The method used in this research is chemical soil improvement by using glass powder as a mixture of soil with variation of glass powder 4%, 8%, 12%, 16%, 20% of soil sample weight. From the variation of glass powder mixture of 4%, 8%, 12%, 16%, 20% of the weight of soil samples, the optimum percentage value of the addition of glass powder was found in soil with 20% mixture. Where the soil with 20% mixture of glass powder has a water content value of 13.8746%, specific gravity 1.8955, liquid limit 63.1195%, plastic limit 34.1995%, plasticity index 28.9200%, shrinkage limit of 22.27938% , Compression index (Cc) 0,42934, and value of consolidation coefficient (Cv) 0,0388 cm2 / second. The smaller the compression index value the smaller the amount of decline that occurs. From the results of this study the use of glass powder as a soil repair material can improve the condition of clay soil kelurahan duri kosambi West Jakarta.
