Abstract :
The power transformer is designed according to IEC 354 with a temperature of around 20 ? but operates at an ambient temperature of around 40 ? in Indonesia, so the transformer must be adjusted accordingly. The higher the ambient temperature, the shorter the operating temperature will be and the greater the lifespan of the transformer. In addition, the influence of loading will also result in warming that supports the aging process. Because the transformer is one of the most important equipment in the distribution of electricity, it is expected that the transformer can work with a considerable amount of time. The transformer age shrinkage is influenced by the isolation of the transformer and oil transformer which also functions as a cooler from the turn of the transformer. In GIS Ketapang it is found that the temperature has an effect when the load is increased, for a load of 35 MW the temperature can be below 98 ? while when it is rated 45 MW the temperature is above 98 ?, because the power transformer # 1 in GIS Ketapang has been operating for 19 years Based on IEC: 354- 1972 Transformator's basic operational age is in the range of 20.55 years, therefore the author makes the estimate of loading only limited to 50% (light load) to extend the life of the transformer so that it can be as long as ? 20.55 years.
