Abstract :
Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) is a device that is installed on a generator that can work to automatically regulate the voltage generated by the generator to remain stable, so that the stability and speed of response are things that need to be considered from the work of an AVR that is still widely used in the industry today namely PID. AVR system modeling and its controls are designed using matlab simulink. Modeling design is done to see the performance of the generator voltage output. In this modeling, the PID is tuned using three methods namely Ziegler - Nichols, Tyreus - Luyben and Manual. Based on the results of the transient response, it can be seen that the results of the PID tuning method of Tyreus-Luyben have advantages compared to the Ziegler-Nichols and Manual methods. PID tuning with the Tyreus-Luyben method gives better performance on two parameters (peak time = 0.0698 second, settling time = 0.4319 seconds), the Manual method is superior to the Overshoot = 3.63% parameter while the PID Ziegler-Nichols method gives better performance on rise time parameter = 0.0285 second.
