Abstract :
Transformers are important equipment in the electric power system and cannot be replaced. Therefore the load of transformer need to be adjusted so the transformer does not run into overload and can be operate as expected 20,55 years. Decreased ability of transformer isolation caused by the hotspot temperature with a standard limit of 98?, the higher of the hotspot temperature, the higher decreased ability of transformer can be accur and will reduce the lifetime of the transformer. The high of hotspot temperature is affected by loading and the ambient temperature of transformer. This research discusses about the effect of loading and the ambient temperature transformer about the hotspot temperature and estimate the lifetime of transformer PLTU Suralaya Unit 5 according to IEC 60354 in 1972. Based on research results when the load is constant 100% with an ambient temperature of 20? result in loss of life 100% and the age as expected 20,55 years. When the maximum loading in December 19 2018 transformer PLTU Suralaya unit 5 result in hotspot temperature varies according to loading conditions and ambient temperature, estimated remaining of age about 24 years.
