Abstract :
The transformer is the main component in the substation. The protection system must maintain the transformer so that the performance of the transformer remains optimal. Differential relay is the main protection system on the transformer that protects the transformer from interference. Differential relay is in charge of protecting the transformer when there is a nominal difference in current flowing on the side of the high voltage and low voltage side, and works without delay. The purpose of this final project is to determine the difference in the performance of differential relay settings according to theoretical calculations with differential relay settings of the Poncol Baru Substation. The study was carried out by taking data in the Poncol Baru Substation then theoretical calculations were made to get the settings according to calculations. The results of theoretical calculations obtained differential relay settings of 12.34% for slope1, 24.69% for slope2 and setting currents of 0.09 A. Then a short circuit interference calculation was performed to find out the differential current value when a fault occurs and compare it with the current setting. The calculation results show that the relay will work in the event of a short circuit current disruption of 16.01 A on the 150 kV side because the differential current value exceeds the current setting value.
