Abstract :
Cable is one of the media that conducts electric current that is used for Medium Voltage Cable Channels which are widely used in cities. Isolation that is more widely used because of its reliability is Cross-linked Poly Ethylene (XLPE). Then, the testing is needed during the cable production process to prevent failure when the cable is operated. The possibility of isolation failure caused by the high level of voids gives rise to Partial discharge. In this final assignment, it is discussed the implementation of technical quality studies conducted at the Jembo Cable Company Tbk laboratory. to ensure the partial discharge rates are still within the permissible limits. In the production of cables, several partial discharge tests are carried out, namely routine test after the screening and final and type test after the binding test and heating cycle test. To find out the quality of the cable, a standard is needed that is used as a reference in producing cables. The standards used are SPLN (national) and IEC (international). For both standards SPLN and IEC are approved that partial discharge in the production process must not exceed 5 pC. In the routine tests, some measured releases do not change between screening process and final. Same invited with a binding test. In contrast to other tests, heating cycle test affect on partial discharge values that is increased by 50-75%.
