Abstract :
The transmission system very important role in the power distribution process. Therefore the safety of the transmission line needs serious attention its planning. The important part in the transmission line is the relay. The relay has a function to secure the disturbed parts of the system so that the interference does not spread widely to the undisturbed parts of the system. The main security for transmission lines is distance relay. The distance relay is used as a safety on the transmission line because of its ability to eliminate interference quickly. Rele distance is the impedance relay, because the impedance of the transmission line is proportional to the length of the channel, so the measurement of the distance of the relay range to the location of the disturbance can be done by measuring its impedance. Hold on this thesis explain the study of distance relay tuning which aims to find out whether the relay work zone in the distance between the conductors experience the overlapping or not. Study of distance relay settings using quantitative methods by collecting data then comparing the performance of the distance relay settings installed with the new settings. After the research was conducted at the delivery of Tambun Substation - Pondok Kelapa Substation. After doing the research, the manual calculation of the work zone impedance value of zone 1 is 3,338 ?, zone 2 is 5,008 ? and for zone 3 is 9,373 ?.
