Abstract :
In the Sumbagselteng Interconnection System there is an additional power supply, which operates three new power plants, such as the Sirih PLTU with a capacity of 90 MW, the Tenayan PLTU with a capacity of 85 MW, and the Sumsel V PLTU with a capacity of 150 MW. There are developments in the Sumbagselteng electricity power system, such as the operation of several large capacity plants and a large enough load development rate, the frequency regulation system must be reviewed. By simulating the trip of PLTU Sumsel V and PLTU Banjar Sari, frequency instability is felt by the entire system, if i tis not addressed as soon as possible it can cause outage (blackout) that can endanger the system. Therefore, steps need to be taken to restore the balance between generator supply and load. One of the steps used to return the frequency to normal conditions is by releasing the load automatically using an under frequency relay (UFR). Trip unit simulation is carried out with three schemes by generating Sumsel V PLTU and Banjar Sari PLTU. In the worst case scheme, the under frequency relay (UFR) releases the load up to stage IV, with a total load released of 530.8 MW, the frequency returns to near or reach normal conditions.
