Abstract :
The problem in electrical distribution system in general is a short circuit problem of a feeder, which are phase to phase short circuit fault and phase to ground short circuit fault. In Medium Voltage Cable (MVC) network, phase to ground fault is the most common problem that happens. One common example which occur during the phase to ground fault in Medium Voltage Cable Network is the tripping of the feeder due to a problem in another feeder at the same time in one relay. This phenomenon is called sympathetic trip. The capacitive current which flows in Medium Voltage Cable (MVC) network is the causing factor of relay problem in Ground Fault Relay (GFR). The feeder will operate if the relay setting is smaller than the capacitive current, therefore relay setting of the GFR must be bigger than the capacitive feeder current. This experiment will examine the case in Cengkareng Substation by conducting an adjustment and selectivity testing working time relay of the GFR on 2 tripping feeders at the same time which are Garuda 1 Feeder and Pertamina 1 Feeder. From the calculation results, it can be obtained that the relay working time of Garuda 1 Feeder when the other feeder is in problem is -0,412 seconds and in Pertamina 1 Feeder the other feeder is in problem is -0,415 seconds.
