Abstract :
Trash is one of the main problems faced by many cities in Indonesia. Waste generated by human activity in the form of industrial waste and household waste is collected in a particular region called landfills (TPA). Garbage is piled up over the years with a large volume will undergo a process of aerobic and anaerobic decomposition caused by the activity of microorganisms. The decomposition process will generate garbage seepage water (leachate) that contain chemical elements which can degrade the quality of the soil. Soil conditions such as soil less favorable for supporting the construction of buildings on it, so the effort required soil improvement first. One of soil improvement efforts can be made to recover waste glass bottles, glass bottles will later be recycled in a manner destroyed sehingg a into a glass powder. The glass powder can serve as a filling material (filler) and a binder on the ground because the silica glass powder contains a lot of ± 72%, which is expected to increase the strength of the soil. In this study will be done mixing glass powder landfill soil samples Semanan whose location is located beside Semanan Taman Indah housing (TSI), Village Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. Variations mixture of glass powder used was 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% of the dry weight of the soil with a long ripening 0 days, 7 days, 10 days and 14 days. Of the various percentage landfill soil mixtures with glass powder and the ripening time variation obtained optimum percentage value addition of glass powder is on the ground with a mixture of 5% glass powder and the curing time of 7 days. Where the soil with a mixture of 5% glass powder and a long curing 7 days have water content 28,5099%, specific gravity 2,5877, liquid limit 54,1345%, plastic limit 27,0341%, shrinkage limit 21,6221%, the index plasticity 27,1031%, cohesion 0.883 kg/cm2 and the value of internal friction angle Ø at 380 8? 9,6??. From this research, the use of glass powder as a soil stabilization material capable of improving the quality of soil in landfill sites so that they can be reused for construction if one day there Taman Semanan Indah housing development and provide a positive impact in waste management.
