Abstract :
Changes in a load will affect the generator output voltage. When the load increases, the generator output voltage decreases and when the load decreases, the generator output voltage increases. So that the generator output voltage is still required a generator output voltage regulation. Generator output voltage regulation is done by adjusting the generator excitation current. The excitation system is a dc power supply system as a reinforcement to an electric generator or as a magnetic field generator, so that a generator can produce electrical energy with a large power and generator output voltage depending on the excitation current. This system is a vital system in the generation process and in its development. When the generator operates in parallel, where the excitation current is regulated while the rotation value (n) remains, it will result in an increase in the value of the magnetic flux so that it changes the reactive power and voltage coming out of the generator, but the amount of active power will not change so it will change the value. power factor. This study aims to analyze the effect of changes in excitation current on reactive power and load generator voltage on the generation unit and the cause of it having the highest and lowest values. The analysis carried out includes changes in load, changes in voltage, changes in excitation and the causes of reactive power and the voltage of a loaded generator having the highest and lowest values. Generator output voltage regulation is done by adjusting the generator excitation current.
