Abstract :
Distribution of electricity to maintain continuity at the Sutami substation, efforts
need to be made to minimize disturbances. one of the efforts made is to use a protection
system by determining the provisions in setting the relay working time according to the
IEC 60255 standard with a granding time of 0.3 - 0.5 seconds. . evaluation of the
overcurrent relay (OCR) and ground fault relay (GFR). From the calculation of the
magnitude of the short-circuit fault current is influenced by the distance of the fault point.
When the point of the fault network is farther away, the short-circuit fault current will be
smaller and if the point of the fault network is getting closer then the short-circuit fault
current will be greater, the use of relays has a very important role in protecting the
electric power system to minimize interference. The method used is by calculating the
fault current and setting the relay working time. The working time of the relay on the
feeder is faster than the working time on the incoming side. The working time of the relay
increases by an average of 0.1 seconds when the cable length is further away at a distance
from 0% , 25% , 50% , 75% , to 100%. The minimum time setting of the overcurrent relay
in the GI is not less than 0.3 seconds, taking into account that the relay does not trip
which is already connected to the distribution network when the feeder PMT is operated.
The results of the calculation of the relay working time setting based on the PLN setting
when a disturbance occurs have a time difference where the calculation data provides a
faster operating time than the PLN protection setting. Based on the calculation of TMS
at the Sutami GI for OCR (incoming side) TMS = 0.025 , OCR (feeder side) TMS = 0.2
while GFR (incoming side) TMS = 0.49 , GFR (feeder side) TMS = 0.67.
