Abstract :
Lithium batteries are the main energy source of choice for electric vehicles in the future.
However, when the battery is not used for a long time and is charged, there is a decrease
in battery life when used due to a self-discharge current, due to a potential difference in
voltage causing current to flow and energy being transferred to each battery. In this
study, a method is proposed to protect the self-discharging of the battery by using a
bypass diode that functions to transmit current and block the reverse direction by testing
the battery connected to the load and not connected to the load using 4 batteries arranged
in parallel, each battery connected to a multimeter to see the voltage and current.
measured between batteries. The test results show the condition of the battery is not
connected to the bypass diode, the current flowing between the batteries is measured
because it has a voltage difference and when the battery is connected to the bypass diode,
the current is 0 mA. So lithium battery protection can work well, namely to eliminate selfdischarge can work properly so as to maintain battery life when you want to use it and
slow down the battery charging cycle.
