Abstract :
Generator is one of the equipment that has a high urgency in the generation of electrical energy. The operation and maintenance of the generator is a very important concern. Operation must be in accordance with the standard and the loading pattern must also be in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. The amplifying magnetic field in the synchronous generator is obtained from the excitation current generated by the exciter system. The excitation current flows in the field coil contained in the rotor so that the rotor produces a magnetic field, the conductor will cut the magnetic lines of force and an electromotive force will arise on the conductor so that a voltage arises. Changes in the magnitude of the excitation current will affect the variation of the load on the amount of reactive power. This final project aims to determine the state of the efficiency of the Steam Turbine generator 1.4 block 1 at PLTGU Priok PT. INDONESIA POWER PRO POMU. The decrease in the efficiency of the generator is due to large losses so that it can reduce the lifetime of the generator. The method is carried out by collecting various generator loading data for 3 consecutive days. Then calculate the value of total losses, excitation power, then calculate the efficiency of the generator for each load that is generated on the generator. The results of the calculations show that the efficiency value of the actual data ranges from 96.59% from the initial design data of 98.90% generator. It can be seen that the Steam Turbine 1.4 generator block 1 experienced a considerable decrease due to the long operating period of the generator in block 1 from 1993 until now, therefore routine maintenance is needed so that the generator efficiency value does not experience a significant decrease.
