Abstract :
Power generation AVR is one of the important, where its function as a generator output voltage
stabilizer. Therefore, it is necessary to design using simulation, namely using the Matlab
application. This study aims to identify the response of the AVR when the voltage deviation occurs
in the field, identify the fuzzy logic-based AVR design, compare the performance of AVR control
using fuzzy logic to the AVR control in the field. In achieving the goal, it is necessary to design
using a matlab application, some of the features matlab one of which is fuzzy toolbox. Fuzzy logic
in designing the AVR work system as voltage stabilizer giving an excitation current. In process of
making fuzzy logic on the AVR, it?s necessary to compare with comparison data form of actual
data. In the process making fuzzy logic, the method used is the Mamdani method with triangular
membership function. It have two inputs and one output are needed, where input data from the
output voltage generated by the generator, and in the AVR, the excitation current supply adjusted
to stabilize the voltage. Fuzzy logic process in excitation settings, it has several membership
functions, HN (High Negative), LN (Low Negative), Z (Zero), LP (Low Positive), and HP (High
Positive). Given a rule so that it will get an output in the form of excitation in accordance with
the membership function. Results of the study using fuzzy logic can overcome the voltage deviation
when compared to the field, an error of 2.96% is obtained.
