Abstract :
The power transformer in the power generation system is one of the main components
that functions to transfer power from a medium-voltage generator to a high-voltage
transmission. According to IEC the basic life of a transformer is 20.55 years, but not all
transformers can operate according to the standard requirements. The Priok Block 3
PLTGU Power Transformer has been operating for 10 years with a loading pattern of
never more than 80%. This study will analyze how the effect of loading on life loss and
find out the remaining life of the transformer with a sample of daily loading for 1 month,
namely in February 2022 and using transformer specification data and ambient
temperature of 31oC obtained from interviews, observations and literature studies. Based
on the calculation, it is known that the loading is directly proportional to the life loss of
the transformer and the Transformer Block 3 PLTGU Priok experiences a life loss of
3.1% with the remaining life of the transformer, which is 10.2 years. From the case study
above, we can analyze which factors are more dominant than the age of the transformer
so that it can be used as a reference for safer transformer operation so that the
transformer's lifetime can be maintained.
