Abstract :
Power Transformers in power plants are one of the main equipment of power plants that are
very important, especially transformers that are operated continuously. Therefore, it is
necessary to pay attention to the performance of the transformer so that the transformer can
operate properly according to the life of the transformer. One of the factors that affect the
reduced performance of the transformer is due to the load on the transformer. The maximum
load or known as peak load can cause increased copper losses and age losses on the
transformer. This study aims to determine the effect of peak load on copper losses and age
losses of power transformers in PLTU Banten 3 Lontar OMU, using quantitative methods.
Based on the results of calculations and analysis carried out peak loading affects copper
losses and transformer?s age losses. The greater the value of the load, the greater the value
of copper losses and the rate of age losses of the transformer. In the generator transformer
unit 1 PLTU Banten 3 Lontar OMU the highest copper losses when in peak load occurred
on January 31, 2022, the amount of the power is 485.9136 KW with a peak load of 307.33
KW. Meanwhile, from the calculation of age loss, the Generator Transformer unit 1 PLTU
Banten 3 Lontar OMU has been operating since 2011 has experienced a life loss of 12.8%
and has a remaining life of 8.3276 years.
