Abstract :
Insulation functions as a separator between conductors and other conductors so that they are not connected to each other, so the condition of insulation is very important to note. Insulation is also the second highest failure factor that causes operation failure in electric machines (Berger et al., 1983). At PLTU Bengkayang 2 × 50 MW, it was found a decrease in the value of the insulation resistance, where the decrease in the value of the insulation resistance could be caused by humidity, contamination with other particles and a dirty motor condition. The object of research conducted at the Bengkayang PLTU is the Secondary Air Fan 1A motor and Circulating Water Pump 1A where this motor has decreased insulation resistance value. Based on the IEEE Std 43TM- standard, 2013 the minimum value of insulation resistance for windings made after 1970 is 100 M? . By doing the treatment process and measuring the insulation resistance value again, it can improve the value of the insulation resistance. Based on the results of measurements and calculations, the condition of insulation resistance in the Secondary Air Fan 1A and Circulating Water Pump 1A has increased according to the standard. This also has an impact on the value of the polarization indeks, where the polarization indeks is the value used to determine the feasibility of an insulation. So it can be said that the condition of the Secondary Air Fan 1A motor and Circulating Water Pump 1A is feasible to operate.
