Abstract :
This study aims to determine the effect of cement and salt pollutants on porcelain and glass insulators in dry and wet conditions. The test method used is to withstand and breakdown the insulator against cement and salt pollutants in dry and wet conditions. Based on the results of the study, both insulators can still withstand flashover with the lowest pollutant levels up to s.d. highest. In the breakdown test for porcelain insulators, dry salt pollutants (10 grams) were 84.96 kV;0.00 mA, (140 grams) 57.67 kV;0.00 mA and wet salt pollutants (10 grams) 82.53 kV; 0.00 mA, (140 grams) 51.56 kV;0.03 mA. Dry cement pollutants (10 grams) 60.39 kV;0.02 mA, (100 grams) 29.97 kV;0.13 mA and wet cement pollutants (10 grams) 58.47 kV;0.05 mA, 100 grams 15.10 kV;0.13 mA. When compared with glass insulators, dry salt pollutants (10 grams) are 77.89 kV;0.00 mA, (140 grams) 48.13 kV; 0.01 mA and wet salt pollutants (10 grams) 71.11 kV;0 ,00 mA, (140 grams) 40,11 kV;0,06 mA. Dry cement pollutants (10 grams) 56.21 kV;0.03 mA, (100 grams) 20.15 kV;0.14 mA and wet cement pollutants (10 grams) 53.81 kV;0.06 mA, (100 grams) 5.71 kV;0.14 mA. The results show that the higher the pollutant content, the lower the breakdown voltage and the higher the leakage current. In order to maintain the quality of the insulation, it is necessary to carry out maintenance.
