Abstract :
In 2009 there was a fire at the UI Depok KRL traction substation caused by the harmonic
effect. In order for this incident to no longer occur at the Duri traction substation, a
descriptive quantitative method was conducted to find out how the harmonic state
occurred at the Duri traction substation by simulating a single line diagram of the Duri
traction substation using ETAP simulations to measure the magnitude of the harmonic
distortion on buses serving both equipment that causes non-linear loads and produces
harmonics. Then if there is a harmonic that has a value above the IEEE standard, then the
harmonic value is reduced by installing a passive filter in the simulation of the traction
substation. From the ETAP simulation carried out, the harmonic values that occur at the
Duri traction substation obtained a large value of harmonic distortion that occurs on bus
1 of 41.86% for THD - V and 5.14% for THD - I. Then on bus 2 there is a large distortion
harmonics of 46.54% for THD ? V. THD values for current and voltage on both buses
are above the IEEE standard of 5%. Therefore, to reduce the value of the harmonics, a
single tuned passive filter is designed. The value of Hamonisa after paired with a single
tuned passive filter on bus 2 decreases from the previous value. For bus 1 the THD ? V
value becomes 5,04% and THD ? I becomes 2,32%, and for bus 2 it becomes 2,28% at
THD ? V.
