Abstract :
This research was conducted because currently the existence of mineral oil is getting thinner which is in line with the continuous use as the main insulating material in transformers, sunflower seed oil and olive oil were chosen as alternatives because of the affordable price and easy to obtain, The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of sunflower seed oil after adding olive oil additives as an alternative to mineral oil isolation, this study refers to IEC 61099: 2010 standard with the results of the study it was found that sunflower seed oil before adding olive oil additives has a density value of 922 kg / m3, its kinematic viscosity value is 37 cSt and its penetrating voltage value is 30.9 kV. after adding olive oil additives in a ratio of 60:40, it makes the density value, kinematic viscosity and penetrating voltage even better with the density value being 887 kg/m3, the kinematic viscosity value of 30.8 cSt and the penetrating voltage value of 50.3 kV. Based on these results, it is known that the density, kinematic viscosity and penetrating stress values of sunflower seed oil insulation after adding olive oil additives have met the standards from IEC 61099:2010.
