Abstract :
In a power plant there is a classification of loads, one of which is an essential load which
is important and cannot be turned off under any circumstances. If the generator
experiences a blackout, the essential load of the power plant will be temporarily supplied
by the UPS system and the DC supply system until the emergency diesel generator (EDG)
is ready for use. Loads that use AC voltage will be supplied using a UPS system and loads
that use DC voltage will be supplied using a DC supply system. The PLTGU Priok POMU
has a load supplied by the UPS system of 46.92 kW and a load supplied by the DC supply
system of 240.23 kW with a total power required for both systems of 325.78 kW. Both
systems receive electrical energy from the Steam Turbine (ST) 4-3 Block 4 PLTGU Priok
POMU battery bank with a battery capacity of 1200 Ah, with this battery capacity,
capable of supplying the load for both systems when the discharge time is full. load both
systems for 0.77 hours or 46.2 minutes. To anticipate a prolonged system failure or
blackout, a load elimination method is used which is classified into a very important load,
namely the control panel of the generating unit, system data, turbine lubricating motor.
After eliminating the load, the total load power of the UPS system and DC supply system
is 287.35 kW and the battery discharge time is 0.86 hours or 51.6 minutes. By using the
load elimination method, an increase in discharge time is obtained for 5.4 minutes.
